2017 Contest

The third Mr Puppy UK was elected in Manchester on 2 December 2017 at the Wruff Stuff Mr Puppy UK 2018 Contest held at Kennel Klub, Club Collared, and Club Alert!

For our third contest, we brought it up to Manchester to join Manchester’s vibrant and growing community, and also expanded it to be larger and more exciting than either of the first two! We once again held a special component for Pup Handlers, with a higher level of involvement and recognition, to acknowledge the important role the handlers play in the lives of pups. We also continued to have a panel of judges across regional as well as community representation: the United Kingdom, Europe, and North America; and Leather, Rubber, and Pups. This time, we further divided the contest into main parts focusing on contestants’ puppy personalities, their role in the community, and themselves as leaders.

This year, for the first time, contestants chose to represent their home cities, with two contestants representing the host city of Manchester.

Hosted by Brock, Kitty, and Eddie of the Mr Puppy Team together with Puppy Smudge of Cambridge, the Wruff Stuff Mr Puppy UK 2018 Contest was judged by a panel of five distinguished judges:

  • Piglet, Mr Puppy UK 2017
  • Avi, Mr Leather UK 2014
  • Bentley, Mr Puppy Netherlands 2017
  • Jeremy, Mr Leatherman Toronto 2016
  • Sam Barclay, multi-award-winning film director
  • The panel was led by Brock as Head Judge
  • The voting was supervised by Paul Ciantar, Canadian Leather Man 2004 and Mr Leatherman Toronto 2003, as Tally Master.

Nine contestants presented themselves for consideration, and after an exciting day across three parts, the judges were pleased to announce the following results:

  • Puppai Buumi of Birmingham – Top Prize and Title Award
  • Pup Dapper of Bolton – Second Prize and Runner-Up
  • Pup Flix of Portsmouth – Third Prize and 2nd Runner-Up
  • Pup Scamp of Croydon – Puppy Congeniality
  • Spike of London – Pup Handler

This contest was phenomenal. Every single one of you did us proud on contest weekend, without exception. We saw vibrancy, playfulness, passion, integrity, commitment, fun, and boundless energy from all of you. We saw nine incredible pups, and we can’t wait to see more of you at pup events and socials throughout the coming years!
